Florida Cup
What Is Florida Cup?
The Florida Cup is an annual competition between the Florida GLTA clubs. Every year teams from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando and Tampa compete against each other for the much desired Florida Cup. The Florida Cup was established in 1991.
The TOP Sixteen players from each club compete over one weekend in singles and doubles. At the end of the weekend the team with most wins is recognized as the Florida Cup Champion. The winning Florida Cup team takes possession of the floating Florida Cup trophy.
During the first day of play (Saturday) the 16 players compete in Singles against the other three (3) teams. On the second day of play doubles matches are completed. Each player competes in both singles and doubles.
The hosting of the Florida Cup event is rotated annually between the four GLTA clubs.
Earning a position on the Florida Cup team is highly coveted. This is an amazing event that builds a lot of team unity and spirit.
SFTC membership is required to participate on the Florida Cup team.
